Do I Qualify?
Applications are usually accepted from January through April. Decisions are usually made in July.
The program is open to graduating high school seniors who are supporters of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender community and meet the prescribed criteria.
Family members and mentors are encouraged to work with applicants to help ensure their submissions are complete.
The applicant must:
- Be graduating from high school in the year they apply for a scholarship.
- Be a Citizen or Legal Resident of the United States and U.S. Territories.
- Be accepted at an accredited college or university within the United States. Proof of acceptance is required.
- Provide an OFFICIAL copy of their high school transcript showing a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better using a 4.0 scale or equivalent. Weighted average can be used in this calculation.
- Complete 2 personal essays as outlined on the application form.
- Nominate at least 2 recommenders (non-family members) to submit letters of recommendation, on your behalf.
This criteria is required before initiating the application process.

Please provide a succinct explanation as to why you believe you should be chosen for one of the LEAGUE Foundation's scholarships (the oldest LGBTQ National Scholarship program in the United States). Please include a maximum of 3 activities and leadership roles in the LGBTQ community, as well as your dreams for the future and career aspirations. - Essay # 2 can be in text format pasted directly to the site (400 words maximum) OR video upload.
Content requirements:
Please describe what you see as the future opportunities/challenges of the LGBTQ community.
Note: If you choose video file upload, please record yourself speaking directly to the camera (for no longer than 2 minutes, no less than 1 minute).
- Essay # 1 should be in text format pasted directly to the site (500 words maximum).
